Hi, I’m Jackie and I have been a Professional Dog Groomer since 2013. I hold a City & Guilds Level 3 Dog Grooming Qualification and an OCN Level 3 Diploma in Professional Dog Grooming Qualification. I am also a Qualified Level 3 Tutor in Education and Training (RQF).

I chose to undertake one-to-one training with Jitka Krizova who is one of the best, award winning groomers in Europe.

Here at Pawsome Paws we treat and care for your dogs as if they were our own. After all, our pooches are impawtant member of our families!

The salon is based around your dog having the best quality, professional and natural products for their groom. We have the passion, love, knowledge and skills to give the upmost attention to detail for all our furry customers. We are fully insured and the business is registered with Lichfield District Council.

As a Groomer I have the best job in the world! My days are filled with wet noses, slobbery kisses and wagging tails.

I am an avid dog lover! Alongside running my grooming and training business, I also volunteer for the charity The Animal Team as a registered Home Checker for potential dog adopters.

I’m also a member of Poodle Network UK where I foster and assess poodles in my home before they are placed with a suitable forever home.

Also along with my own Standard Poodle, Ava, we are volunteers for Pets as Therapy where we go into our local nursing homes and our local children’s hospice, Acorns.

Our Training Academy​

I am honoured to be able to offer the courses from my salon. You will have plenty of attention and support as I only train a maximum of 2 students at any one time. The salon has a nice, comfortable and relaxed feel. You will see customers face to face and learn how to interact not only with the dogs but the customers too.

Managing our clients’ expectations is one of the hardest parts of grooming!

During training you will have hands on dogs from day one, no sharing or shortage of dogs as I have seen with other training providers. Your progression and development will be assessed as you go along and it’s such a wonderful feeling when you see photo’s and evidence of your development. Your confidence and speed will grow with every day in the salon.

You will groom a wide variety of dogs, some to breed standard and some to the customers personal requirements.

You will groom pedigree dogs and cross breeds so you will have plenty of tutoring and hands on experience with the different techniques used with clipping, scissoring and styling. You will also groom plenty of dogs in the ever popular ‘puppy cut’ or ‘teddy bear trim’.

I have a teaching assistant background working in High Schools and I’m also a Qualified Tutor in Award in Level 3 Education and Training (RQF). Teaching and helping students grow, progress and have the ability to go forward with absolute confidence in their career is my personal goal for each student who comes through the door.

I have just completed my grooming course with Pawesome Paws. The team are so supportive and helpful and informative and the wide variety of grooms you do whilst on your course really prepares you for the grooming world. I've thoroughly enjoyed my course and will miss the fun environment that the ladies create for their students. For anyone considering doing it I definitely recommend you just go for it as its been one of the best decisions I've made and I don't think I would have been to the standard I am now without the high quality and example set by the experienced team here. I could not be happier I chose Pawsome paws to train as a dog groomer, If you’re thinking of taking their course do not hesitate! It can be so daunting to take the jump at first but the support you will receive along the way is absolutely incredible from this business. The tutor Vicky is simply AMAZING, she has years of experience in the industry and a million tips and tricks to help you master every element of grooming. Weather you’re in the salon, at home doing your coursework, or finished with the course and navigating the dog grooming world she is always happy to receive your messages and help with whatever she can. The salon also provides all sorts of equipment to try so you don’t have to take expensive plunges without first figuring out what you work best with. I just recently passed my level 3 dog grooming course with pawsome paws. I couldn’t recommend them enough, the amount of knowledge I learnt was amazing. I got to work with so many different breeds while being here, which is great I had a good variety of breeds to work on. Vicky especially helped me so much! I achieved my iPet level 3 with pawsome paws. I went from a beginner to being at a level that I could comfortably groom all types of dog. The course is so in depth and they give a well rounded approach to the business itself - not just the grooms. The coursework is difficult but the support is great and the ratio of dog grooms to groomers is unparalleled. Vicky was amazing and Jackie’s knowledge is incredible. Thank you for all your help! iPET Network Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming and Introduction to Styling - 15 days: £3150

This NEW qualification is delivered over 15 days in our academy with practical and theoretical elements (with additional theory work to be completed at home). During the course you will groom a minimum of 10 dogs covering 6 different breeds but often many more.  There are no pre-requisites to starting the course, meaning you can join at level 3 without having completed a lower level (level 2) course first.

No previous experience is required! Once you have gained this qualification, you can continue your studies and move onto the iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management and gain your ‘Fully Qualified Dog Groomer’ status.

On this course, you will be trained in practical skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping and nail trimming. 

Units included within this qualification are:

301: Health and Safety in a Dog Grooming Environment 

302: Promote the Welfare of Dogs conforming with Relevant Legislation

304: Assess and Plan Dog Grooming Styles and Maintenance of Equipment

305: Health Checking, Handling and Canine Behaviour

317: Prepare, Style and Finish a Selection of Dog Breeds

You will be continually assessed via practical demonstration and coursework meaning you don’t have to sit a daunting exam in order to achieve the qualification. This holistic approach has been welcomed by novice dog groomers around the globe. Pawsome Paws Academy wants to take the pressure out of adult learning and we can adapt to suit your learning style, just tell us what you need!

This course will leave you confident and competent to style a selection of breeds to client requirements.

Uniquely, students are continually assessed via practical demonstration and coursework. You don’t have to sit an exam in order to achieve the qualification. iPET Network Level 3 Award in An Introduction to Dog Grooming - 5 days: £1250

It is perfect for students who have little knowledge of dogs but who are interested in a career in dog grooming. During the course you will groom a minimum of 5 dogs covering 3 different breeds.  There are no pre-requisites to starting the course, meaning you can join at level 3 without having completed a lower level (level 2) course first.

No previous experience is required! Once you have gained this qualification, you can continue your studies and move onto the iPET Network Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming and Introduction to Styling. 

On this course, you will be trained in practical skills such as prepping, bathing, nail trimming and basic scissoring and clipping.

Dog Grooming Taster Day

This taster day gives you an insight to see how a busy salon works and to help you decide if you want career in dog grooming. Our friendly team will make you welcome and be available to answer any of your questions during the day. The taster day is aimed at assisting you in deciding as to whether dog grooming is the right career for you before proceeding with longer courses such as the Level 3 Dog Grooming Diploma.

Course Price: One day £180 (non-refundable deposit £50, NB as an added bonus we will deduct the cost of the Taster Day off the price of the 25-day course if you enrol within one month of the taster day).

One Day Pet Grooming Course

Learn the basics in how to groom your own pet on a full day course. This one-day course has been specifically created for those wanting to groom their own dog at home. You can bring your dog to us for the day and learn how to create one specific style you like and gain the skills you need to work on your own dog’s coat type.

Fast Track Qualification (OCN) – Experienced Groomers Only

Fast-track options for experienced groomers seeking qualification.

We know many experienced groomers would like to be able to say they are also qualified and have their skill validated. However, exams can be daunting, and the cost can escalate if you need practice to prepare for them. That is why we offer a fast-track solution to qualification, assessed through coursework and ongoing demonstration providing a great opportunity for experienced groomers to achieve level 3 qualification status without the need for first completing a level 2 qualification. This route is also ideal for students who hold the City and Guilds Intro Certificate but who have not yet reached the City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma. Both diplomas have the same value on the national framework but are simply awarded by different organisations.

There are two fast track options:

Option 1) Complete the qualification at your premises with your own dogs.

£1500 per registration

Option 2) Complete the qualification at Pawsome Paws Training Centre with our dog models.

£1250 per registration

*additional expenses for travel / accommodation may be charged based on location of but will be negotiated before you commit.

Foundation in Dog Grooming (10 days)

This course is a leap up from the introduction course offering further practical and hands on skill practice. Packed into 10 days you will touch on every aspect of dog grooming and is the perfect course length to fit around your current employment or lifestyle. In this course you will gain knowledge of the most popular dog breeds seen in a grooming salon. This course is an ideal start for students who want to become self-employed as a dog groomer or those who wish to gain immediate employment in a grooming salon. This course level will appeal to potential employers in any job application and enable you to display an array of skills. This course may also appeal to students who have experience in grooming but wish to refresh their skills on suitable dog models in a grooming salon environment.

Professional Dog Grooming Level 3 Diploma (OCN)- 25 days

The Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming Qualification Awarded by Open College Network West Midlands is a recognised Level 3 (A level) Qualification approved by Ofqual.

You do not need any prior experience to start this course or to have completed a Level 2 first. Unlike other qualifications of the same stature, there are no pre-requisites to starting the course, meaning you can join at level 3 without having completed a lower-level course first. There is also no final examination at the end which most students find daunting on other courses available.

Over the period of 25 days, you will groom a minimum of 10 different breeds in a minimum of 15 different styles. This exceeds other courses available and we believe gives our students a solid foundation on which to continue developing their skills and career.

The qualification will demonstrate to an employer and/or the general public should you wish to become self employed , that you have the necessary technical skills and knowledge to successfully groom a variety of dogs. This is a formal, regulated, nationally recognised qualification that will remain relevant throughout your career.

It has been designed specifically for those looking to become professional dog groomers or those who already groom dogs (as a hobby or career) but do not currently hold a nationally recognised qualification. For experienced groomers, we can offer a fast-track plan to gaining the qualification by skill demonstration.

COURSE CONTENTS:

As with all of our grooming courses at Pawsome Paws Training Academy you will be trained in practical skills such as bathing, scissoring, clipping, nail trimming and ear plucking.
